Endodontics

Also known as a root canal, allows to maintain the functionality of the tooth, as well as its aesthetics, and it’s a last resort option to save it without pulling it out
The procedure consists of the total or partial extraction of the injured pulp of a tooth and the sealing of the pulp canal.
The pulp of the tooth is the soft connective tissue located inside a dental organ, it’s surrounded by dentine and has nerves and blood vessels. The pulp communicates the tooth with the maxillary bone and serves to perceive external stimuli.
An injury in this area occurs due to the existence of a cavity that has not been properly treated and has grown through time. However, there may also be other reasons:

  1. Trauma.
  2. Fractures.
  3. Other pathologies related to the root or bone surrounding the tooth.

Here are the symptoms that may indicate that we need a root canal:

  1. Intermittent or constant pain.
  2. Sensitivity to cold or heat.
  3. Molestia al masticar.
  4. Change color of the tooth to a darker shade.
  5. Appearance of a purulent abscess.
